QUALIMED-Skills for Quality in Healthcare at European Level – Successful Project Conclusion

15 participants with experience in the field of quality management in Rumanian hospitals were certified in the course of a pilot training. The training was provided by Rumanian experts in the healthcare sector, who had been trained by Quality Austria and the Hungarian project partner MNB.

The project was concluded by a technical conference in Bukarest on January 21 and 22, 2015.

The European Organization for Quality was represented by EOQ President Mr. George Georgiades and EOQ Director General Dr. Eric Janssens, the two opening the conference. Quality Austria was represented by Mrs. Elisabeth Richter, who gave a lecture about the topic of competence. Exciting inputs were also provided by Dr. Lazar Calin, Medical Director of the Emergency Hospital for Children in Cluj Napoca, who talked about the Quality Manager’s role and the expectations in this person, which were often too high, above all in the healthcare sector. According to Dr. Lazar Calin, this role is so complex that it cannot really be fulfilled by one function alone. Mr. Marco Kiauta of SQEA (Slovenian Quality and Excellence Association) pointed out how important raising awareness and communication were to increase the employees’ motivation and thus enable a sustainably successful quality management in the healthcare sector. Quality and excellence should not only refer to the organization but always also to the individuals concerned.
